Week of the Italian language hosted in Melbourne

MELBOURNE - “Italian and young people. Sorry? I don't follow you! " is the topic of the XXII Week of the Italian Language in the World which will be organized in Melbourne by the General Consulate of Italy with the collaboration of the Italian Cultural Institute, COASIT, the Dante Alighieri Society, COMITES Victoria and Tasmania and VATI.

The initiative will be inaugurated at the headquarters of the General Consulate of Italy, but it will be taking place various places in the city and also online, as well as the numerous events organized by COASIT: on the 13th of October, from 17.30 to 18.30, Amir Issa will speak about " Rap and Language: power to the word "; on October the 20th there will be an interview with sociolinguist Vera Gheno on young people and Italian; on October the 26th, John Hajek will give the speech "When young people express themselves on walls: the Italian lnguage in graffiti"; and on the 27th October "From" Class "to" Team "" will be the report by Angela Viora.

The conference "Italian and the dialect in Italian society and in the new generations of Italo-Australians" will be held in attendance at the COASIT headquarters, organized by the Italian Cultural Institute and COMITES on 18 October from 18.30 to 20.00, with reservation required.

Two other events organized by the Italian Cultural Institute with Treccani will also take place at the COASIT. On October the 17th, from 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm, appointment with Massimo Bray who will talk about "The protection of the landscape", Fabio Rossi about "A new grammar of Italian?" and Giovanni Fazzuoli of “Utopia: the words of art, from the Treccani Vocabulary”. On October the 19th, Giulia Addazi and Andrea Felici will attend as speakers respectively intervening on “Unauthorized norms and cautions. The Italian language between radio and podcast ”and“ The new Treccani. An overview of the characteristics of the latest tools published by the Institute of the Italian Encyclopedia ”.

In both cases, in order to attend a reservation is required; as well as for the October 23th event organized by Dante Alighieri of Melbourne, once again at the COASIT, where from 2.30 pm to 4.00 pm we will talk about "Young people read Dante".

The Week of the Italian Language in Melbourne will conclude with the online and face-to-face participation in the National Conference for Teachers of Italian in Australia, which will take place on 22 October from 8.30 to 15.00 (WST) at the University of Western Australia, in Perth, in the name of the topic "Italian is a young language".
