Paris: a contribution of the Consulate General to the Week of the Italian Language in the World

PARIS - As part of the XXII Week of the Italian Language in the World this year, with the theme "How sorry? Non ti followo ", the Consulate General of Paris organized three events which had as their main target the young public and as a fil rouge the observation of phenomena that, in various historical periods, have seen the entry into Italian, of cultured or daily, expressions taken from other languages.

The Week then opened on October 17 in the Consulate with the lecture by Professor Carlo Ossola, distinguished professor and Dante expert, entitled "Follow, follow, follow: from Folengo to Shakespeare to us", addressed to the students of the Liceo Statale " Da Vinci ”and the Italian Sections at the international high schools of Saint-Germain-en-Laye and“ Honoré de Balzac ”in Paris. The latter, at the beginning, presented their reflections on the social use of the most commonly used neologisms.

On 19 October, still in the Consulate, the actor Eugenio Itzak De Giorgi, considered by critics as the spiritual heir of Dario Fo, offered the students of the ESABAC Sections at the "Suger" of Saint Denis and "Berthelot" of Saint-Maur des-Fossés, and to representatives of the Italian community, his performance “Arlecchino, diavolo buffo”, in the wake of the tradition of the Commedia dell'Arte in which grammelot, a theatrical jargon characterized by the mixture of languages and dialects, plays a fundamental expressive role.

On October 20th, in the lecture hall of the international Lyceum "Montebello" in Lille, in front of Consul General Irene Castagnoli and the Dean of the Florence Delannoy institute, the screening of the film "A private matter" by the Taviani brothers was proposed. based on the novel of the same name by Beppe Fenoglio, whose centenary is celebrated in 2022. The screening in the original language, intended for representatives of the Italian community in Lille and for students of the Italian Section at the "Montebello" Lyceum, was preceded by introductory speeches by the Headmaster Luigi Vallebona on "The languages of Fenoglio" and by Paolo Modugno dell 'Preview Association on “Fenoglio and the cinema”.

The "Leonardo Da Vinci" State Comprehensive Institute organized the Conference-Concert "Italian and young people, narrating music" on October 17, aimed at enhancing the link with the Italian language through music. On that occasion, Prof. Dinko Fabris, the first Italian elected president of the International Musicological Society, shared the Musicologues sans frontière project with the high school students: the commitment of Italian cooperation. The students then had the opportunity to discuss the proposed theme and interpret some pieces of the operatic repertoire and of the author's song.
