London - The Consulate General in London sponsored an event titled "Promoting Biotech Companies in Italy," which was organized by the United Italian Societies (UIS) and the non-profit organization "Nucleate." The Consul General in London, Domenico Bellantone, opened the meeting and emphasized the importance of collaborating with Italian students from major British universities. According to Bellantone, investing in Italian students in the UK means investing in Italy's future in the country, as they will represent Italy and its excellence in their respective fields of specialization in the coming years.
During the event, participants discussed ways to grow the biotech ecosystem in Italy by adopting good practices from the Anglo-Saxon world, and practical advice was provided on how to establish startups in the sector. Nucleate, a network of academics, investors, and industrial experts, has already facilitated the creation of 107 new companies.
Thanks to the involvement of the United Italian Societies, many students participated in the event. The association, which aims to strengthen coordination between Italian societies in British universities and collaboration with institutions, was born in December 2021 at the headquarters of the Consulate General. The UIS recently held its first symposium at the London School of Economics, attended by Minister of Justice Nordio and many renowned Italian guests. Additionally, the UIS-Consulate General "Studenti unITi" initiative was launched in December, entirely managed by young Italian male and female students, which provides consular support in coordination with the London office.
