MILAN - The Gran Galà della Cucina Italiana, hosted last December 13 at the Teatro San Babila in Milan, celebrated the rich 2022 of 50 Top Italy, the online guide to the best of Made in Italy, inside and outside national borders . An evening event, presented by Federico Quaranta, which unveiled the 50 Best Italian Restaurants in the World.
Da Vittorio Shanghai, in China, is the Best Italian Restaurant in the World. The restaurant, led by the Executive Chef Stefano Bacchelli, with the supervision of the Cerea family, confirms itself as a true excellence in the world of catering also abroad.
Second place in this ranking goes to Don Alfonso 1890 Toronto, Canada, with chef Daniele Corona.
On the third step of the podium, the contemporary restaurant created by two world-famous Italian names, the Gucci maison and the famous Modenese chef Massimo Bottura: Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura in Tokyo, led by chef Antonio Iacoviello.
In fourth place Il Carpaccio, in Paris, born from the meeting of the Cerea family with Oliver Piras and Alessandra del Favero. Conquering fifth place is Fiola, in Washington DC, by Fabio Trabocchi, one of the favorite places of the US President, Joe Biden.
In sixth place is Sesamo, in Marrakesh, which bears the signature of Massimiliano Alajmo.
Seventh position for Locanda Locatelli, in London, owned by the well-known chef Giorgio Locatelli.
In eighth place Il Lago, in Geneva, driven by Massimiliano Sena.
The Top Ten concludes with Rezdôra by Stefano Secchi, in New York, and Buona Terra in Singapore, by Denis Lucchi.
The highly anticipated special prizes of the best Italian restaurants in the world have been awarded: Antonio Iacoviello Chef of the Year 2023 – D’Amico Award;
The Carpaccio, in Paris, wins the Lunch of the Year 2023 - Birrificio Fratelli Perrella Award;
Laura Roncaccioli of Caffè Stern, in Paris, wins the Sommelier of the Year 2023 – Ferrarelle Award;
the Novelty of the Year 2023 – Latteria Sorrentina Award is Lucida, in El Alamein, by chef Giorgio Diana;
Armani Ristorante in Tokyo, led by chef Carmine Amarante, wins the Pastry in Catering 2023 – Mulino Caputo Award;
the Dish of the Year 2023 – Pastificio dei Campi Award is Spaghetti, like a bruschetta from Clara, in Bangkok, by chef Christian Martena;
the Made in Italy 2023 – Solania Award goes to Giando, in Hong Kong, by chef Gianni Caprioli.
During the evening, the first ten classified of the best Trattorias – Bistrò Moderni, of the best Signature Cuisine restaurants, of the Great Restaurants, of the Luxury restaurants and the number one of the Spin-Off restaurants were also awarded.
