HOUSTON - New projects aimed at the world of universities and research will engage the Comites of Houston in 2023, which met recently for the first assembly of 2023.
During the works, reports the Committee, “the final budget was approved well in advance of the legal deadline."
In this year of transition - they explain from Houston - much of the activity of the Comites focused on recovering administrative responsibility for the management of ministerial funds after the extraordinary commissioner. Although we did not have access to the funds, we anticipated the first expenses of the Comites waiting to access the reimbursements of the ministry funds thanks to the personal will of the councilors .
In the first year of life, the councilors “focused on the development of a new site, developed by the President of the Communication Commission Isabella Carrino, and two events for the community together with our patronage of the Italian Poetry Prize for the Future. We also met with the new Consul General Mauro Lorenzini to report various reports of access to consular services received through our Citizen Desk".
As for the future, Comites will be able to count on an important contribution from the Farnesina's General Directorate for Italians Abroad: "as evidence of the good work - the Committee points out - in January we received the news that Comites received additional funding of 40,000 dollars for 2023 specifically for projects aimed at the world of universities and research - the only Comites in the United States, together with that of New York, to receive supplementary funding. To manage this funding we have created a new commission chaired by Salvo Saieva, researcher at UTMB and member of Comites. The co-chairs of ESC and ISSNAF are also part of the commission - they conclude from Houston - as external members who will help us develop the related events. In this year we therefore hope to multiply the initiatives in support of the community of the district".
